Getting to the root of the problem
The most important way a physical therapist can help you is by getting to the root of your problem. Injury, pain, tight and weak muscles, may bring you to the office and requires treatment but healing canʼt be fully achieved until the factors that caused or are perpetuating your condition are addressed. Sometimes it is as simply identifying and eliminating a bad habit, poor ergonomics, or faulty posture that needs to be corrected.
Sometimes the causes or perpetuating factors are more elusive and require some deeper “detective” work, delving into the mind-body connection. The hallmark of any healer who calls themselves holistic, is one who recognizes the interrelatedness of every system of the body including the mind whose influence we are just beginning to understand and use to heal ourselves.
