Educate yourself about natural medicine and nutrition
I recommend these free web sites which include topics on wellness, plant based diets, reaching your full potential, naturopathic medicine and chronic disease.
Mercola.com – Dr. Joseph Mercolaʼs lifeʼs work is to provide free education to the masses about everything that effects our physical and emotional well being. His information is research based. Donʼt expect that mainstream doctors are reading this web site. Please donʼt be put off by the fact that Dr. Mercola sells some products like water filters, cookware, skin care, safe tanning beds to boost D3 levels, and supplements that he considers essential for wellness. There are frequently lengthy interviews with highly credentialed experts on topics like GMO Food, Fluoridation, Emotional Freedom Technique, vitamin supplementation for specific conditions, fermented foods and so much more. On Fridays he writes about cutting edge exercise research. On his site there is a link to Dr. Becker who is a holistic veterinarian. The irony here is that once you sign up for Mercola.com, you will get an email a day with a lot to digest. If you start watching the video interviews, you may find yourself up until the wee hours, obviously not a good health practice! Dr. Mercola has recently written a book entitled Effortless Healing.
NutritionFacts.org – Dr Michael Gregorʼs is a dyed in the wool promoter of vegan lifestyle, which I donʼt think I could adhere to, but can cure many chronic health conditions. Dr. Gregor spends his life at the Library of Medicine reading EVERY SINGLE nutrition research article that is published in the world. He interprets nutrition research in a one minute very cleverly formatted video. Quick and easy daily info.
The Aware Show.com – Lisa Garr interviews all kinds of visionaries, luminaries, spiritual leaders, neuroscientists, financial experts, and many others with way out there “gifts.” These one hour interviews will inspire you to reach your fullest potential and help you get beyond the subconscious blocks that prevent the attainment of physical and emotional health. Many of the interviews have been transformational for me, resulting in big attitude shifts, providing the push to make beneficial changes.
NaturalCompounder.com – Dr. Gary Kracoff is a registered pharmacist with a doctorate in naturopathic medicine who provides in-depth consultative services at Johnson Compounding & Wellness. Gary’s guiding philosophy is to treat the person as a whole, not to chase symptoms. He focuses on finding the “why” to what is happening physically and mentally, and works with individuals to restore balance in the body. I frequently refer patients, friends and family members to Dr. Kracoff who have not been able to find help with conventional medical approaches. He is a wealth of information about natural medicine, functional medicine, homeopathy, supplements and is aligned with my mission of getting to the root of the problem, not just covering up symptoms.
Functionalmedicine.org – Functional medicine addresses the root causes of chronic disease using a systems oriented approach and involves a partnership between the patient and doctor. The goal being to reverse the chronic disease not just cover up symptoms. Functional medicine practitioners address all aspects of a person’s life including genetics, environmental toxicity, emotional toxicity, stress, exercise, sleep, nutrition and spiritual alignment. Many of the conditions I treat are either caused or perpetuated by by chronic inflammation. Using a functional medicine approach, patients can decrease the inflammatory response making their tissues much more responsive to physical therapy treatment and ultimately healing faster! Dr. Mark Hyman is the chairman of the Functional Medicine Institute. His latest book is The Five Forces of Wellness. I also highly recommend Dr. Hyman’s book, Ultraprevention.
Drbrownstein.com – Dr. Brownstein’s free newsletter provides high quality natural medicine advice especially on thyroid and hormone balancing.
